U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, today made the following statement on President Joe Biden's trip to Saudi Arabia:

"President Biden gave himself one primary mission in the Middle East -- securing greater oil supply from our partners to lower prices at home.

"Instead of prioritizing that goal, however, President Biden focused on the optics of his meeting with the Saudi Crown prince -- settling on a fist bump over a handshake, as if it would make a diplomatic or epidemiological difference. Now, he returns home empty-handed, to no one's surprise.

"It was the wrong mission anyway. First and foremost, Americans want to produce more of our own oil. Americans understand very well that soaring prices are the result of the President's failed policies at home, not his shaky relationships abroad.

"Bottom line: The solution to our gas crisis is right here in America, and President Biden didn't have to travel over 13,000 miles abroad to solve it. I urge him to stop blaming others for a crisis of his own making and unleash American energy now."
